One of Orlando’s Top Italian Restaurants since 1980, Enzo’s on the Lake in Longwood specializes in all things Italian cuisine! From their homemade pastas, aged meats, to their daily house specialties, there is something for everyone at this quaint house turned restaurant.
Start from the top. What are your first impressions of this restaurant?
Colorful, Picasso-esque paintings by one of the owner’s mothers decorate the walls of Enzo’s on the Lake, a once-private residence that has been an icon on the Orlando restaurant scene since it opened in 1980. Brick floors and beamed ceilings give the space the feel of a grand Italian villa; large windows and outdoor dining areas afford views of the manicured gardens leading to the lakefront.
Who else has made their way to Enzo’s?
Couples of all ages celebrating anniversaries and other important occasions abound, as do families. Guests usually dress to impress and linger a long time.
What should we order from the bar?
From Aperol spritzes to peach Bellinis, Enzo’s cocktail game is strong. The wine list skews Italian, with some good Chiantis, Pinot Grigios, and Proseccos available by the glass, too. On a warm day, a frosty Peroni beer always does the trick.
On to the food. What’s on the menu—and what’s especially good?
Enzo’s does the Italian classics to perfection; the Bucatini alla Enzo—simple noodles with prosciutto, mushrooms, and parm—is a longtime house favorite. Veal, Australian lamb, and cozze (mussels in a white wine and garlic broth) are all excellent, as well. The house antipasto and burrata cheese, served with grilled ciabatta, are tasty ways to start. For dessert, don’t miss the house carrot cake—it alone has been known to draw in diners.
How’s the service?
Most of the servers have been here forever, and the operation feels like one big family. Courses are usually perfectly timed, but not too European-style; as in, you’re not going to have wait hours for the next one. The staff knows the menu and wines inside and out, so just ask.
Why would you recommend a meal here?
If you’re looking to impress your future in-laws or woo a date, there’s no better place.
