Colors convey clues, what does your favorite hue say about you?  Your front door is the first thing that people see when they look at your home. Shouldn’t it say something about you? Whether you’re going for “big and bold” or “subtle and sophisticated,” there’s a color out there that will suit your needs.

Our pre-painting pondering begs just a few questions to consider:

  • With your current color scheme, does your selection compliment your existing exterior?
  • Will it stick out too much with holiday decor?
  • Does everyone in the family enjoy coming in the door?  Just remember, it’s very likely that it’s more than just YOU in your home.

These are all important questions to ask before you whip out your rollers. As you can see, there’s more to choosing a front door color than simply picking one from a batch of paint samples.  Are you wondering which color conveys the right message for you?

White: Classic choice…a white front door probably means you are organized, independent, logical and serene.  The white door will convey that you are clean and bright!

Yellow: Yellow front doors are gaining popularity.  As the most cheerful of colors, it conveys a sunny and happy disposition of the homeowners.

Red: A red front door creates the sense that you are a romantic.  With this hue, your guests will feel warmth in your home right from the beginning!

Pink: Pink is a whimsical choice for front door colors. It says you are playful and child-like while still appearing welcoming.

Green: Like the idea of “going green,” a green front door says your home is a place of nature or luck. Opting for a green door may signify you are either a naturalist or extremely confident.

Purple: Purple tends to be a fairly uncommon front door color, so when it’s selected it is a bold choice! This can indicate a homeowner’s uniqueness and individuality and says you want to stand out in the crowd.

Grey: A grey front door is very neutral and often associated with being a rule follower, one who likes to follow in line with expectations.  When choosing gray, you are saying you want to go with the flow or you have trouble making decisions and like to choose the safe route.

Orange: The color of orange is considered vibrant and exciting, and if your front door is orange, it can convey that you are optimistic, have a sense of humor and can easily find the spice of life!

You may notice that we didn’t even mention one of the most popular colors, can you guess which one?  Stay tuned in another post about the many hues of BLUE!
